Sahur and Iftar are essential parts of fast in the month of Ramadan. These are times for fast when people eat drink and pray in these times. Allah Almighty accepts supplications in these times. People also like to memorize Roza Ki Dua, specially Sehr and Iftar.
Sahur is the time before the azan of Fajr. Muslims eat and drink at this time because they have to remain without food until iftar. People should quit eating and drinking about 10/15 minutes before the azaan of Fajr.
Iftar is the time after the Maghrib azaan. At maghrib at a specific time, Muslims open their fast. Mostly they start eating with dates, then eat and drink freely till sahur.
Wabisowmi ghadan navaytu min shahri ramadan.
I plan to keep the fast for the month of Ramadan.
Allahummah in-ni laka sumtu wabika ahmantu wa alaika tawakkalto wa ala rizqika aftartho.
O, Allah! I keep fast for you, and I believe in you, and I put my belief in You, and I break my fast with your subsistence.
Tirmidi(3451).
Allahummah ahillaho alayna bilamni wal-eeman, wa-salamati wal Islam, Rabbi wa RabbukAllah.
O Allah, let this moon-rise on us with peace and faith, with security and Islam. (O, moon!) Your and my Rubb is Allah.
The first Ashra of Ramadan s started from the first-day moon is sighted, and ends after ten days. It denotes “Mercy” and is known as “an Ashra of mercy.” These days Allah Almighty grants Muslims special blessings and mercy. Muslims ask Allah for forgiveness and special mercy. So they keep doing different duas. Accordingly, Roza Ki Dua includes three ashra Duas.
Rabigh fir warham wa anta kairur rahimeen.
O! My Allah forgives and have mercy, and You are the best of Merciful.
The second Ashra of Ramadan consists of 11th Ramadan to 20th Ramadan. This Ashra is known as the “Ashra of forgiveness.” During these ten days, Muslims recite special Dua to seek forgiveness. They regret all their sins from Almighty Allah. Muslims must follow all other duas and prayers in second ashra other than specific prayers.
Astaghfirullah Rabbi min kulle zanbin wa aatuboo ilaiyhe.
I seek forgiveness from Allah, my Lord, from every sin I committed.
Third Ashra starts from 21st to 29th or 30th of Ramdan. This ashra is known as ashra of “nijaaht or freedom from hell”. This is an important and crucial ashra for Muslims. “The Night of Power” also known as “Laylatul qadar ” also falls in todd days of this Bashar. That night is an excellent time to ask for forgiveness and Mercy from Allah the almighty. Muslims recite these supplications to seek protection from hellfire.
Allahumah innaka afuwunn tuhibbul afwa fahfu hanha.
O, Allah! Verily You are most forgiving. You love to forgive, therefore forgive me.
Allahummah ajjirna minan naar.
O, Allah, Protect me from hellfire.
These Duas reward us with three basic needs of a Muslim which are:
Whole month Ramzan is blessed with countless rewards for Muslims. We must explore all these and ask from Allah as much as we want.
