The Words of Faith or the Kalimah means “None but ALLAH is worthy of worship And Muhammad(Peace be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah”. The kalimah. “Laaa ilaaha illa-llahu , Muhammadur-rasoolu -llah.”
The first part of this shahada(Testimony) testifies that there is no God except Allah. He is only God; there is no partner, father, mother, or son. Allah alone has perfect and endless attributes and has no deficiency. One and only, having power over all and everything. (No doubt).
The second part testifies that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is a servant and Messenger of Allah. He is a perfect human being. Being Muslim having faith that Muhammad(peace be upon him ) the last messenger is obligatory.
Faith is also called Eman. We can define Faith as:
It is by heart testifying “Toh’heed”(Allah جَلَّ جَلَالُهٌ is one). And Muhammad is Prophet of Allah جَلَّ جَلَالُهٌ. It’s the Kalimah, i.e., some words that are uttered from tongue and understand and accepted by heart. Also shown in activities
When a person utters Words of Faith “The Kalimah Tayaabah,” he becomes Muslim. So he accepts Islam as a religion. It’s the first important thing that a human needs to confidence, to be a Muslim. All the rules and laws of Islam apply to him. Then his activities must be according to Islam also. The Kalimah is the entrance point for Islam. It differentiates Muslims and non-Muslim. Therefore first and most important beliefs of Muslims are Kalimah e Tayaaba. It is an initiative of Islam. So we can also say it the root of faith. Kalimah e Tayyaba has two-part.
The meaning is evident and straight forward. In The Kalimah, simply Allah is only one. No other is similar to him. He is the only one who creates the whole universe. That is only Allah جَلَّ جَلَالُهٌ. So all different beliefs are false. No other God or idol worship is true. It’s the first part of faith. As Allah جَلَّ جَلَالُهٌ said in Quran.
“And your AlLah is One Ilaah , Laa ilaaha illa Huwa (there is none who has the right to be worshiped but He), the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(al-Baqarah 2:163 interpretation of the meaning )
Similarly, the Kalimah Tayaaba also knowledge about not the existence of any other God beside Allah. Only Allah جَلَّ جَلَالُهٌ is the creator of all. The creativity and greatness of all created things. How their formation is perfect? Their maintenance and control indicates that the creator is only one. He rule and decides as He wants, and He does as He will. Quran clarifies:
Yet they have taken besides Him other gods that created nothing but are themselves created.
(al-Furqaan 25:3)
The Kalimah is the second and vital part of the Muslim faith. Muslims have trust in that Islam always existed before. Islam reveal gradually to human being through different Prophets. But Prophet Muhammad SAW made complete and final revelation of the faith in 7th century CE. As believers have faith that Muhammad SAW is the last messenger of Allah. If anyone believes in Allah جَلَّ جَلَالُهٌ, he must believe in prophet SAW also.
Prophet Muhammad SAW was the last messenger of Allah جَلَّ جَلَالُهٌ. He was well known as most truthful and trustworthy also before he received the Quran. He is a perfect layout for Muslims to serve their lives. Prophet SAW is also a role model for the whole world. His morals were the Holy Quran. His entire life also reveals humanity, responsibility, seriousness, and sensitivity. Hence his wisdom spread around the world and brighten the lives of Muslims. Moreover, Believers obey his Sunnah and practice them in their lives to get success. Allah also say him as an excellent role model:
You have a magnificent model in the Messenger of Almighty Allah, For all who put their trust in Allah and the Last Day and remember Allah significantly.
Surat al-Ahzab :21
But those who trust and work deeds of righteousness, And Trust in the (Revelation) sent down to Prophet Muhammad Saw for it is the Truth from their Allah. He will remove from them their sickness and improve their state.
Surah Muhammad 47.2
Muhammad is not the father of (any) one of your men, But (he is) the Messenger of Allah and the last Prophets. And ever is Allah, of all things, conscious.
Al- Ahzab 33.40
Prophet Muhammad also clarify:
I am like the last brick (of an excellent structure that has one brick missing). I am the last of the Prophets.
Muslim, Fazail 22
