scrll of deeds or book of deeds

Scroll of Deeds | Nama Ahmal

And We have fastened each man’s deeds to his neck, and on the Day of Resurrection, We shall bring out for him a book which he will find wide open, “Read your record. Enough is yourself against you this Day as an accountant.

17:13-14

Allah has created man and provides him with all worldly necessities. For his guidance, Allah sends down holy books. Train him through practical examples of pious Prophets. Allah shows the human being two ways, good and evil. He provides him with the wisdom to choose one. Allah has created love and hatred to decide where to move the heart’s direction. All this is an exam for humans. Allah wants to test us where we will go and what we will love. The result of this test will be in the form of reward or punishment.

Scroll of Deeds

We, humans, commit sins, troubles others, and forget about it. Sometimes we give no valve to other good deeds and pay no rewards. But Allah will provide us with rewards and punishment. There is a book “scroll of deeds ” or “book of deeds” in which angels are going to write, every single one action of us. It is a book that we continue to fill with our activities every day until we are alive. It is the scroll where all our good and evil deeds are recorded, and it is the book that will serve as the base for our destiny on the Day of Judgement. Scroll of deeds contains every small to big act, from breath to blink of an eye. In surah Al Kahf Allah says about it as:

And the record [deeds] will be placed, and you will see the wrongdoers afraid of that within it, and they will say, “Oh, woe to us! What is this book that omits nothing small or great except that it has enumerated it?” And they will find what they did present [before them]. And your Lord does injustice to no one.

“woe to us! What is this book that leaves nothing small or great”, book of deeds is one with every action. Mostly we forget our small deeds and sometimes big crimes too. But Allah never forget.

Kiramen Katibeen

And indeed, over you are keepers, Noble and recording; They know whatever you do.

82:10-12
angels recording good or bad deeds

Angels are Allah’s creations who never disobey Allah. As per the Commandment of Allah Almighty, each human being has been assigned two recording angels. In surah Infitar, Allah called them “Kiramen Katibeen” means “honourable recorders” or “noble recorders.”. The Arabic term “raqibun atidun” means “observer ready” is in the Quran as:

Man does not speak any word except that with him is an observer prepared.

50:18

In another place, Allah calls them “two Receivers. Allah says:

When the two receivers receive, seated on the right and on the left.

50:17

The work of the two observers is to write down and record every action of a person each second. They write down all our good and bad deeds, thoughts, intentions and feelings. One angel sits on the right shoulder and records all good deeds, while the other sits on the left shoulder and records all bad deeds. Ibn ‘Abbas narrated:

The Prophet said, “Allah ordered that the good and the evil deeds be written, and He then showed how. If somebody intends to do a good deed and he does not do it, then Allah will write for him a full good deed (in his account with Him). But If he intends to do a good deed and did it, then Allah will write for him with Him (its reward equal) from ten to seven hundred times to many more times: and if somebody intended to do an evil deed and he does not do it, then Allah will write a full good deed (in his account) with Him. If he intended to do it (an evil act) and did it, then Allah will write one bad act (in his account).

Day of Judgement

The Day every soul will find what it has done of good present and what it has done of evil, it will want that between itself and that [sin] was a great distance. And Allah warns you of Himself, and Allah is Kind to servants.

3:30

On the day of judgement, angels will present our records to Allah. On that day, deeds are on weigh scale. If good deeds are more than evil then Allah will send a person to Jannah, otherwise, hell is destiny.

Quran describes this process in these words:

So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, “Here, read my record! Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account.”So he will be in a pleasant life. In an elevated garden.

69:19-22

But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, “Oh, I wish I had not been given my record. And had not known what my account is. I wish my death had been the decisive one. My wealth has not availed me. Gone from me is my authority.[ Allah will say], “Seize him and shackle him. Then into Hellfire drive him.
